Way with Circuit Blox 800
Register to get the E-Blox 800 kit for the holidays and comes with four dedicated instructional hours. Register by December 9th to allow time for holiday shipping. Camp can be purchased separately if you already have the E-Blox 800 kit.
Saturdays, January 9th through 30th, 2021
at 10 – 11AM PST / 1 – 2PM EST
(Email makercamp@make.co to request alternate times.)
Have fun with Dr. E-Blox as you learn how to build 3D circuits with the E-Blox Circuit Blox 800 project set that add lights, sounds and motion to your brick structures.

In this camp you will build along with Dr. E-Blox to make 3D circuits that light colorful LEDs, launch a fan high in the air, create cool sirens, music and space battle sounds and create an induction spinner. And everything you build can then be integrated into your own brick sets (e.g. LEGO) to enhance the play fun! You will also be fascinated by Dr. E-Blox as he explains how all the circuits work and their STEM aspects in the real world.
Spots are limited…sign up now so you don’t miss out on all the circuit building and STEM learning fun with Dr. E-Blox and the Circuit Blox 800 project set!

Move and Groove with Sandy Roberts and Makey Makey
Classes expected to sell fast. Class size is limited! Register for one, some, or for all. Register for all four classes and save. You will also get access to a private “classroom” to share projects, ask questions and receive feedback.

The Makey Makey is an invention kit designed by MIT. It allows a user to connect everyday objects to the computer and Internet. That means that you can control that computer using bananas, PlayDoh, aluminum foil, even graphite from a pencil! Using Scratch — a free block-based visual programming language designed for kids — you can code your computer to interact with the world through the kit.
In Move and Groove with Makey Makey, we’ll merge creativity and technology to make projects that will have you moving, dancing, gaming, and making music. A great blend of hands-on making and digital learning, the Move and Groove with Makey Makey series is an engaging way to get started with coding and physical computing. It’s perfect for homeschoolers looking for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) projects or families interested in adding enrichment activities at home. Each class is appropriate for beginners. Pods, clubs, educators, and libraries are welcome. Class size is limited!
Get your Makey Makey Classic and get ready to Move and Groove with Sandy Roberts!
All registered students will receive: a 90 minute Zoom session for the weeks they are registered, advance materials lists, and written directions to accompany the projects. Students must have a Makey Makey and access to a computer with a USB port.
Build BOTS with Kathy Ceceri
Register today and get your materials ready.
Email makercamp@make.co to request another session.
Please include what specific times (with time zone) and days of the week would work.
Got kids ages 7-13 who are ready for real robotics? Build BOTS with Kathy Ceceri is based on the book, Bots! Robotics Engineering with Makerspace Activities for Kids. It’s a complete robotics course you can do at home and no expensive kits needed!
In this 5-week live course, Kathy will introduce you to a different robotics system each week and guide you through a short hands-on project. Then for “homework,” you have the option to work on more advanced projects (instructions in the book) and share your creations with the class the following week!

With just ordinary crafts materials, a few recycled parts, and some low-cost, easy-to-learn electronics, you’ll learn:
- What a robot is and what they can do
- Different ways to power a robot
- How robots get around, and how they pick up and move stuff
- How sensors help robots decide what to do
- How to create real and virtual robots and control them with free, online software like MIT’s Scratch and Microsoft MakeCode.
To do all the projects in this course, all you need are some household supplies (such as index cards, pencils, and scissors), and some low-tech electronics. They can be found through online electronics retailers like Adafruit (see below), on Amazon, or even salvaged from dollar store devices — you’ll find out how in the first class!
To do the more advanced “homework” projects, you will also need a copy of the book BOTS! by Kathy Ceceri, a programmable microcontroller, and a few additional household items (see the Materials list below).
The book and electronics are available from Adafruit as a savings bundle or separately. The book alone is also available from the publisher, Nomad Press, (https://nomadpress.net/nomadpress-books/bots-robotics-engineering/9781619308275).
- Five 1-hour weekly sessions
- Online Sessions will be on the Zoom Platform
- Program is suitable for kids 7 through 13.
